Teardrop Family – Glints in the Eye
As a ‘Paisley Buddy’, I was born and grew up in the town – the product of generations who earned their living from the textile industry. Reflecting on the ‘Teardrop’, my grandparents immediately came to mind – my Papa was a foreman in the mill, meeting my Gran there, one of the mill workers. From there, the images of ‘family’ grew into the intuitive sense of the Teardrop mother, father and child – generations woven by Paisley’s threads. This version includes the idea children as ‘thoughts’ in the minds of the parents, ‘glints’ in the father’s eye. The images existing in both the physical world of texture and the ‘other’ unknown world, represented by the transparency and fluidity of acrylic inks and watercolour inks.
